Adam Fitzgerald is an Irish racing driver who currently competes in the Formula Regional European Championship with RPM. He recently competed in a FRECA race at Spa-Francorchamps on 1 July 2023.
Sadly, Adam was involved in a fatal multi-car crash at Spa-Francorchamps which ended up taking the life of an 18-year-old Dutch driver, Dilano van’t Hoff. The crash involved Adam, Dilano, Enzo Scionti, Joshua Dufek, and Tim Tramnitz.
The heartbreaking incident took place during the closing stages of the second race. It happened at the entrance of the Kemmel straight since there was very little visibility due to heavy rain.
The multi-car crash was initiated when Tim lost control of his car. While Dilano was left in the middle of the track, Adam crashed into him at a high speed resulting in a nasty T-shaped collision.
Both Adam and Dilano were immediately rushed to the circuit’s medical center for treatment. Sadly, the worst news was confirmed as Dilano had passed away from his injuries.

Following Dilano’s death, the MP team issues a statement saying,
We are devastated at the loss of one of our brightest Dutch talents, who brought so much energy to our team during the years he raced with us.
Dilano has been a part of our racing family since his motorsport debut with MP back in 2021. We offer our sincere condolences to Dilano’s family and his loved ones, and are in full support of them and our team members who have lost not only a driver but a friend as well.
As the fatal incident ended up taking the life of Dilano, Adam is now finding it difficult to cope with his physical and mental injury. We hope that the champion racer comes out of this soon and starts racing again.
