Toosi was a finalist for the 2019 National Magazine Award in reporting for her story on the plight of Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh and Myanmar. She joined Politico as a deputy politics editor in 2013.
Prior to that, she worked at the Associated Press as an editor on the now-defunct International Desk. Moreover, she was a correspondent in Pakistan and an editor on the Europe Desk in London. While working there, she was one of the first foreign correspondents to reach Abbottabad, Pakistan, after the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Nahal has worked for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as a general assignment and Milwaukee County reporter. Additionally, she covered higher education and reported from Iraq during the U.S. invasion in 2003.
