Anton Walkes was an English professional football player who played for Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer (MLS). Unfortunately, he died on 19 January 2023 in Miami, Florida, United States.
Anton died after being injured in a boat collision near Miami Marine Stadium at around 3 p.m. Eastern Time on 18 January 2023. He was in Miami with his MLS team, Charlotte FC, where the club was holding a 12-day training camp.
Following the collision, Anton received CPR at the scene from the Miami Fire Rescue. He was then taken to the local hospital where he died the next morning.
Charlotte FC owner David Tepper issued a statement following the player’s tragic death. The statement read,
Everyone at Tepper Sports & Entertainment is devastated by the tragic passing of Anton Walkes. He was a tremendous son, father, partner and teammate whose joyous approach to life touched everyone he met. Anton made those around him better people in all areas of life and represented Charlotte FC to the highest standard both on and off the pitch. He will be greatly missed by many and our thoughts and prayers are with Anton’s family during this heartbreaking time. The club offers its full support to all those impacted during this period of mourning.
