CBS meteorologist Elise Finch left this world on 16 July 2023. She passed away at a local New York hospital at the age of 51.


The CBS New York, also known as WCBS-TV announced the news a few hours after her death yesterday. Additionally, the network mourned the passing of the beloved journalist stating, 

Elise was a gifted and consummate professional who took great care with her work. She was also a wonderful ambassador in the community, including her hometown of Mount Vernon. Above all, Elise was a fiercely loving and devoted mother to her daughter Grace and a wife to Graig Henriques, who is a photojournalist at WCBS.

Finch has been serving the network for more than 16 years. She joined the New York-based media company in 2007.

Initially, she served as the network’s weekend meteorologist and then appeared on the morning news with co-anchors Mary Calvi and Chris Wragge. In September 2022, she joined Cindy Hsu on the 9 am newscast on the network.

Prior to that, she was a weathercaster at NBC where she served as a meteorologist for the “Early Today Show,” MSNBC, and NBC Weather Plus. Similarly, she worked as the weekend weather anchor at the CBS affiliate KPHO Channel in Phoenix, Arizona.

Elise also worked as an anchor and reporter at the CBS and FOX affiliates in Youngstown, Ohio, and the ABC affiliate KAAL in Austin, Minnesota. She began her career in television behind the scenes at E! Entertainment Television, working as a production coordinator for special projects and live events.

Finch was born on 24 February 1972 and was 51 years old at the time of her death. She goes by the full name Elise Dione Finch Henriques.

The journalist was raised by her family in Mount Vernon, New York. An American by nationality, she had African roots from her family side. Her father James Finch was an Army veteran. She has mentioned her mother Charlette Finch on her Twitter marking her 75th birthday back in June 2020.

Elise attended Mount Vernon High School and graduated from there. She then graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Science from Georgetown University and also received one of the prestigious President’s Awards there.

Furthermore, she earned a Master of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University. She then completed the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University and also held the seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society.

Finch was a married lady and a mother at home. She has been married to Graig Henriques for several years.

As per wiki, the couple tied the wedding knot on 23 August 2013. The duo would celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary this year.

Graig is a photojournalist by profession who now works for WCBS. The couple welcomed a daughter named Grace Henriques on 22 November 2016.
