Ty was passionate about making his appearance on Jeopardy! for a long time. After a round of online tests, a series of proctored tests, and online auditions, he was finally called up to shoot the episode in the show.
Sharing his experience, Patton said,
I prepared a lot. I thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. There weren’t any huge surprises, it was just an honor to be on that stage.
Patton even announced his appearance on Jeopardy! via his X post on 6 June 2024 where he wrote,
A while back I sort of had a goal. Then it became a potential reality. Now it is happening. Tune in to
June 17 to see if I embarrass myself, win a significant sum of money or make entertaining TV. No matter what, I’m grateful and honored to be a part of #Jeopardy
In the upcoming episode, Patton will face the current 13-day champion, Adriana Harmeyer. Likewise, he will be up against the stay-at-home mom from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Kelsey Kaunisviita Vockrodt.
Adriana, an Archivist from West Lafayette, Indiana looks unstoppable on Jeopardy! With 13 wins in a row, she has a winning purse of $299,000.

Ty has been serving as a Communications Coordinator at Iowa College Aid since October 2021. Previously, he worked as an Assistant Director of Athletics/Communications at Drake University from August 2012 to October 2021.
As per his LinkedIn profile, Patton served as a Media Coordinator/Communications at Drake Relays from September 2012 to July 2021. From July 2018 to March 2019, he was a Media Coordinator at the NCAA.
On top of that, Ty held the position of Associate Director of Athletics Communications at the University of Alabama from January 2009 to September 2012. Prior to that, he was an Associate Sports Information Director at Appalachian State University from August 2005 to December 2008.
Ty also worked as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Mercyhurst University from September 2004 to July 2005.
