Eventually, be became the highest draft pick in Florida Atlantic baseball history and also was the first student-athlete in school history to be selected in the first round of a professional sports draft.
Afterward, he was assigned to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League Angels on 21 June 2023. He made his professional debut against the ACL Diamondbacks on the same day.
Schanuel played collegiate baseball at Florida Atlantic University from 2021 to 2023. As a freshman, he was ranked at the top of the Conference USA leaderboard in nearly every hitting category and was also named Freshman All-America by Collegiate Baseball and by Perfect Game.

Likewise, he also played collegiate summer baseball with the Boynton Beach Buccaneers of the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League. He was named a Preseason All-American by Perfect Game/Rawlings in his sophomore year.
As a junior, he was named the third player in program history to be named Conference USA Player of the Year and a semifinalist for USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award. He ended his collegiate career batting .
385 with 46 home runs and 176 RBIs.
Nolan attended Park Vista Community High School where he played high school baseball. During his high school career, he struck out only 16 times in 175 at-bats, a strikeout rate of 9.14%.
