Christopher Hodgson is popularly known as the son of legendary English football manager and former player Roy Hodgson. His father most recently managed the English Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Roy stepped down from his post as first-team manager on 19 February 2024. He was hospitalized after being ill during a training session on 15 February 2024. He was discharged from the hospital and is in stable condition now.

Born on 9 August 1947, Roy was a youth player with Crystal Palace and also played non-league football with Tonbridge and Gravesend & Northfleet. He completed training to gain his full coaching badge at the age of 23 and joined Maidstone United, where he played and also served as assistant manager.
In 1976, he began his managerial career with Allsvenskan team Halmstad. Afterward, he moved to England and managed Bristol City for a year.
With over five decades of coaching experience, he has managed the club as well as the country’s national team. His managerial experience includes Malmö, Inter Milan, United Arab Emirates, Fulham, Liverpool, Finland, England, and Watford to name a few.
For his remarkable contribution, he was made a Commander of the Order of British Empire (CBE) in 2022, receiving his medal from Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, the president of the Football Association. Likewise, he received an honorary doctorate from the University of York on 22 January 2016.
