Crowley shared his excitement about appearing on Jeopardy! on his LinkedIn profile, writing,
I believe I can now openly say so, but I will be appearing on an episode of Jeopardy! that will be airing on July 23. I can’t say more about it publicly until after the episode airs and I will be writing an installment of my newsletter about that. All I will say is that I am among elite company. I was honored to have three of my friends there to support me on my taping day.
And a huge thank you to my friend Rachel for her excellent haircut! She has now given me two of my favorite haircuts.
I taped on Thomas Pynchon’s birthday and a day after the 30th anniversary of 8 points, 9 seconds. I only felt nervous getting touched up in the makeup department before my game was due to start.
Furthermore, Crowley added,
To prepare for the game, I watched Winning Time: Reggie Miller Vs. The New York Knicks. And onstage, I thought of Reggie Miller and Tyrese Haliburtonrton when I needed further inspiration to stay cool under pressure. And I even managed to wear my Pacers tie onstage. And I met a fellow Hoosier there and we talked about what a joy the Pacers playoff run was and that was only after Game 2 of the second round! We had no idea what was in store for us.
More people have played in Major League Baseball than have appeared on Jeopardy!, 20,878 versus around 17,000 people. And it is common for Jeopardy! contestants to know other contestants. Off the top of my head, I know four other people who appeared on the show. And I learned the MLB factoid from them.
