Susan Slusser is an American sports journalist who works as a senior baseball beat reporter at a newspaper named The San Francisco Chronicle. She has been working for the Chronicle since 1996.

There, she has been covering the Major League Baseball team, the San Francisco Giants since 2021. Previously, she covered the other MLB side Oakland Athletics for two decades.
Before the Chronicle, she worked for the Dallas Morning News from 1995 to 1996. There, she covered the MLB side, Texas Rangers. She has also worked as a beat writer in the National Basketball Association.

In 2017, she won a Northern California Area Emmy for her work on “SportsTalk Live: Women in Sports Media.” Furthermore, the National Sports Media Association named her and fellow Chronicle sports scribe Ann Killion co-California Sportswriters of the Year in 2019.
For her remarkable contribution to the field, she won recognition from the San Francisco Press Club, the Peninsula Press Club, and the Association for Women in Sports Media.

The journalist was raised by her parents in Pebble Beach, California, United States. She has not shared the details about her family and upbringing. However, some wiki sources suggest that her mother is British.
Slusser pursued her high school education at Stevenson School, graduating in the year 1983. There, she did play-by-play announcing for the school radio station.
Afterward, she went to Stanford University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree with a double major in English and History in 1988. While at college, she was the sports editor of the Stanford Daily and was on the lacrosse team.

The duo were rivals when it came to their profession. After their marriage, she was covering the Oakland Athletics at San Francisco Chronicle whereas her husband started covering the Giants for The Mercury News.
Daniel now works as a staff editor/writer for The Athletic MLB. A native of Cotati, California, he is a 1992 graduate of the University of California, Davis.
