The player attended Newington College and was the captain of its GPS Championship Winning 1st XV Rugby team in 2015. Moreover, he turned down captaincy of the Under-18 NSW State of Origin side in favor of playing for his school in his final year.
Murray began his career, playing junior rugby league for the Mascot Jets. He then joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs at the age of 19 in 2017. Likewise, he made his debut for the Rabbitohs against the Brisbane Broncos on 21 April of the same year.
