Rushdie was first married to Clarissa Luard from 1976 to 1987. He then married Pulitzer Prize finalist Marianne Wiggins in 1988 and ended his marriage in 1993.
After Elizabeth, he married model turned Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi in 2004. His most recent marriage ended in 2007.
Recently, West rose to the limelight after her ex-husband Rushdie was stabbed by a man before an event in Chautauqua, New York. He was stabbed in the neck and abdomen after rushing onto the stage.
Rushdie was then hospitalized in critical condition in UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pennsylvania. According to The Guardian, he is off the ventilator and can talk now.
