Holly Hassel is an English professor from Fargo, North Dakota. She will appear as a new contestant on the 39th season of the legendary quiz game show, Jeopardy!

On the new Jeopardy episode, she will face a returning champion, Suresh Krishnan, a networking engineer from Suwanee, Georgia, and Neilay Amin, a psychiatrist from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Krishnan is enjoying his six-day winning stint on the show with a total of $96595. He secured his sixth win on Tuesday’s episode with a final score of $14,401.

Holly has been a Jeopardy! viewer for as long as she can remember. She has been watching her favorite show since her school days. Moreover, she tried on Jeopardy! college tournament earlier but did not make it on the show.
For participating in the show, she took her first test in May 2022 and completed the third stage the following summer. Her episode was taped in the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California back in April.
Hassel shared her excitement about participating in the show stating,
It’s a full and exciting day because one week’s episodes are taped one a single day, I was in a group with about a dozen other players. I’ve always been a trivia lover since playing the original version of Trivial Pursuit in the 1980’s as a kid. I’ve been a regular ‘Jeopardy!’ watcher throughout my childhood.
In fact, she has fulfilled her lifelong dream to appear on the show. She will make her Jeopardy debut on Wednesday, 14 June 2023.

Hassel is 48 years old now. She was born in 1974 and her birthday falls in October every year.

Hassel attended Brainerd High School in Brainerd, Minnesota. After graduating in 1992, she went to St. Cloud State University and earned a BA in Creative Writing and Philosophy in 1995.

Hassel now works as a professor of English and director of first-year writing at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota.
