Bio & Family

Jill Tracy Jacobs was born on June 3, 1951, in Hammonton, New Jersey, United States. She is the eldest daughter of Donald C. Jacobs and Bonny Jean Jacobs. Her father served as the President and CEO of the InterCounty Savings and Loan Association in Chestnut Hill for 20 years until 1992. She has four younger sisters; Bonny, Jan, Kelly, and Kim Jacobs.

Jill attended Upper Moreland High School, graduating in 1969. She then received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware in 1975. Besides, she earned her master’s degrees from West Chester University and Villanova University, and a doctoral degree from the University of Delaware.

Earlier, Jill taught English and reading in high schools for thirteen years. She worked as an English and writing instructor at Delaware Technical & Community College from 1993 to 2008.

From 2009, she started serving as a professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College. Biden then became the second lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017 as her husband Joe Biden served as the 47th vice president of the United States.

Personal Life

Jill first married a former college football player Bill Stevenson in February 1970. They separated in 1974 and their divorce was finalized in 1975.

In March 1975, she met Joe Bidden on a blind date set by his brother. The duo started dating and got married on June 17, 1977, at the Chapel at the United Nations in New York City. The duo has a daughter named Ashley Biden, born on June 8, 1981.

Meanwhile, Joe was previously married to Neilia Hunter. The couple had three children; Joseph R. “Beau” Biden III, born on February 3, 1969, Robert Hunter, born on February 4, 1970, and Naomi Christina, born on November 8, 1971.  However, on December 18, 1972, his wife and a year-old daughter Naomi died in an automobile accident while Christmas shopping in Hockessin, Delaware.
