Back in December 2022, Scott was appointed to the Fulton County Superior Court by Republican Governor Brian Kemp. He was later sworn in on 1 February 2023.
Scott was then assigned to preside over the racketeering case, State of Georgia v. Donald J. Trump, et al. in which Trump and 18 co-defendants are accused of conspiring the Georgia presidential election results.

Before serving as a judge at the Superior Court of Fulton County, Scott was an Inspector General at the Office of the State Inspector General from April 2021 to January 2023. Moreover, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia from September 2018 to March 2021.
