Marc Vetri is an American chef and founder of Philadelphia’s critically acclaimed Vetri Cucina. Located in a historic townhome in the heart of Philadelphia, Vetri Cucina has a longstanding reputation as being one of the most respected and influential Italian restaurants in the country.
The restaurant was opened by Marc and his business partner Jeff Benjamin in September 1998. Within two years of running, Marc was named one of Food & Wine’s “Best New Chefs” and received the Philadelphia Inquirer’s highest restaurant rating. Likewise, he received the James Beard Award for “Best Chef Mid-Atlantic” in 2005.

After being inspired by its success, the duo opened restaurants named Osteria, Amis, Pizzeria Vetri, Lo Spiedo, and Alla Spina. He decided to expand Vetri Cucina with a second location at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas in 2018.
Apart from his restaurant business, he is the author of author of several cookbooks. In 2008, he published his first cookbook Il Viaggio di Vetri, a collection of more than 125 of Vetri Cucina’s most-requested dishes.
Moreover, his other cookbooks include Rustic Italian Food (2011), Mastering Pasta (2015), and Mastering Pizza (2017). His most recent cookbook, Mastering Bread was released in October of 2020.
Vetri is also involved in social welfare outside the kitchen. He and Jeff Benjamin founded the Vetri Community Partnership to help children experience the connection between healthy eating and healthy living. Likewise, the duo are the founders of the Great Chefs Event, an annual celebration that brings together the country’s greatest culinary leaders to raise money and awareness for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a pediatric cancer charity.
