Tamara Ghattas is a book editor and a freelance musician from Chicago, Illinois. She is a new contestant on the 39th season of the popular quiz game show, Jeopardy.

In the new episode, she will face a returning champion Alec Chao and Michael Murphy, a test engineer from Gilroy, California. Alec is a strategic planning and performance analyst at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he booked his place for the net episode after becoming Thursday’s episode champion with a total score of $15,505. In the first round, he scored $7,200 and became a champion after scoring $15,200 in the second round.

Ghattas is making her Jeopardy debut on Friday, 24 March 2023. She has been a regular viewer of the show for years and was in the process of appearing on the show for a long time. Besides, she is a fan of the host of the show Ken Jennings. 

Out of about 100,000 interested candidates, she comes in with 400 to 450 people who get an opportunity to participate in the show. She became eligible to compete after a series of tests and interviews.

Ghattas is 42 years of age, born in the year 1981. She celebrates her birthday on the 14th of February every year.

Originally from Wellesley, Massachusetts, she was raised by her family there. She is American by nationality and has possibly a mixed heritage. Moreover, she pursued her high school education in her hometown.

Afterward, she attended the University of Chicago and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics in 2003. She then earned a Master’s Writing and Publishing with distinction from DePaul University in 2010.

Tamara has been married to her husband Todd Stura for several years. The pair has been together for more than a decade as per her Facebook.

Todd is a Cybersecurity professional with years of experience. As per his Linkedin, his most recent job was a Whole Foods Market where he worked until 2021.

The couple is raising two children together: a daughter named Louisa and a son named Oscar. Both kids are pursuing their school education now.

Ghattas has shared about her husband’s immense support on her journey to Jeopardy. She thanked her husband for his sacrifice as he used to take their kids out on adventures so that she can study.

The pair is involved in charity work as per their respective Facebook posts. Tamara donated to her birthday fundraiser for Seraj Library Project in February 2023.

As of now, Ghattas resides with her husband and two sons in Chicago, Illinois.

Tamara is a book editor and writer with two decades of experience in publishing. She holds a job as a senior production editor at the book division of the University of Chicago Press.

Prior to that, she worked as an Associate Managing Editor of Academic Content at American Marketing Association from 2015 to 2018.  She served as a managing director at Bella Voce, a Chicago-based chamber chorus specializing in classical cappella music.
