The catcher was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the third round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. After signing with the Indians, he continued his collegiate career at the University of San Diego.
Wolters then joined the Colorado Rockies and made his MLB debut against Arizona Diamondbacks on April 5, 2016. He was non-tendered by the Rockie and signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization on February 11, 2021.
Afterward, he signed a one-year, major league contract with the Chicago Cubs on March 31, 2021. He was released on August 3, 2021, and signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers four days later.
