In a post-match interview following his memorable MLB debut, Weston said,
I felt like it was going to happen. Not to sound bad, but everybody’s had my back since I’ve been here. Been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. I’m speechless right now.
Weston became the first Phillies player to hit a home run in his first MLB plate appearance since Marlon Anderson in 1998. He is the sixth-oldest player in baseball history to hit his first career home run in his first career plate appearance.
