After three rounds at The American Express, he has found himself in the solo lead heading into the final round at PGA WEST at La Quinta Country Club, California on 20 January 2024. Moreover, he carded a 12-under 60, playing both nines in matching scores of 30, becoming the second amateur to card a 60 at a PGA TOUR event.
Dunlap is known for winning the 2023 US Amateur Championship in August 2023. He beat fellow American Neal Shipley 4 and 3 in the 36-hole Final at Cherry Hills Country Club on 20 August.

Furthermore, he won the 73rd US Junior Amateur Championship back in 2021. He defeated Cohen Trolio of West Point, Mississippi, 3 and 2, in the 36-hole championship match at The Country Club of North Carolina.
By this, he became the second male golfer to win both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Junior Amateur, matching Tiger Woods. He was included in the 2023 US World Amateur Team and the 2023 US Walker Cup Team. Additionally, he was qualified for the 2023 U.S. Open.
Collegiately, he plays at the University of Alabama. He finished the 2023 fall campaign as the Crimson Tide’s top golfer, averaging 67.00 strokes per round and a -4.13 average vs. par.
