The reporter was raised in a political family being the granddaughter of longtime Democratic U.S. Rep. Ed Jones (April 20, 1912 – December 11, 1999). Jones served as U.S. congressman for Tennessee’s 7th and later 8th Congressional districts from 1969-1989.
