Adeel Mangi is a Pakistani-American lawyer. He has been nominated to serve as a United States Circuit judge of the United States of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Adeel was nominated for the position by the U.S. President, Joe Biden. If elected, Adeel will become the first Muslim American to serve on a federal appeals court and the third Muslim-American federal judge overall.

However, Adeel’s quest for victory seems to be in jeopardy as three Democratic senators have refused to support him. Recently, Senator Jacky Rosen claimed on Wednesday, 27 March 2024 that she wouldn’t vote to place Adeel on the Philadelphia-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Prior to that, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and Senator Joe Manchin III also opposed Adeel for the position. Adeel was nominated for the position by President Biden on 15 November 2023.

In his career, Adeel has litigated a number of religious discrimination cases, including winning permits for two mosques after local New Jersey governments in Bayonne and Bernards Township refused to permit the construction of mosques.
