Brian Chu From Jeopardy: His Wiki, Job & Family Life Explored

Brian Chu is a professor from Cary, North Carolina. He has made a new name for himself as a contestant to appear on the 42nd season of the popular trivia game show Jeopardy!

Likewise, his debut episode will air on Thursday, 2nd April 2026. There, he will meet two more contestants, including a returning champion from the previous episode.

The returning champion again will be Jamie Ding, a bureaucrat & law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Jamie secured his 14th straight win on the 1st April episode, making his way up to the “Jeopardy!” all-time leaderboard.

Moreover, his win moves him into a tie for the 13th most in the history of the long-running TV gameshow. As a 14-day champion, he has amassed total winnings of $371,600.

The other new contestant will be Nikki Svetov, an entertainment strategist from Long Island, New York.

Brian spent almost two decades trying to get onto Jeopardy and made it to the final Producer rounds a few times. Likewise, he has been in the contestant pool, but I’ve never made it all the way to the show.

However, he has appeared on the 4th episode of Pop Culture Jeopardy! back in 2024. He says that he is so grateful for the opportunity to play on the big stage.

Brian has reached the age of 45 now. He was born Brian Po Wen Chu somewhere in the year 1980.

Originally from La Crescenta, California, he was raised by his parents there. An Asian by ethnicity, he is of Chinese descent. He has a good command of both English and Mandarin Chinese.

Chu holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 2002. Later, he earned a Master of Business Administration with an Emphasis on Marketing and Technology Management from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business in 2008.

Brian serves as an Executive in Residence of the Game Design, Development, and Innovation Master’s Program at Duke University Pratt School of Engineering. The Jeopardy contestant has been enjoying years of matrimony with his wife, Albertina Chu. Albertina now serves as a Design Program Manager at Meta.
