Colby Burnett is a Jeopardy contestant known for his appearance on the longest-running trivia game show, Jeopardy!
A high school college counselor from Chicago, Illinois, he won the Jeopardy Teachers Tournament in November 2012 and took $100,00 to his home. A few months later, he went on to compete in the 2013 Jeopardy Tournament of Champions and took home the $250,000 grand prize after winning the tournament. He was a semifinalist at the Jeopardy Battle of the Decades in 2014.
Furthermore, he returned to the Jeopardy stage in 2019 for the All-Star Games final match. There, he was a captain of the 2nd runner-up Team Colby and split $100,000 three ways with Pam Mueller and Alan Lin.

Burnett is now back on the show for the first-ever Jeopardy Invitational Tournament this year. The tournament will invite champions and memorable participants from the past to compete once again.
Likewise, the contestants will compete in nine quarterfinal games, three semifinals, and a best-of-four finals series: the first champion to win two games will be crowned the first-ever Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament champion. The champion will get a grand prize of $100,000 and an invitation to compete in the “Jeopardy! Masters” 2024.
In the last quarterfinal match, he will face two former Jeopardy champions; Lilly Chin, a robotics professor from Decatur, Georgia, and Sam Buttrey, a bob vivant & man about town from Pacific Grove, California.

Lilly won the 2017 College Championship and bagged a prize of $100,000 and a trophy. Similarly, she is also a wildcard semifinalist at the 2017 Tournament of Champions.
On the other hand, Sam is the 2021 Professors Tournament winner and a 2nd runner-up at the 2022 Tournament of Champions. He placed 6th in the Jeopardy! Masters tournament last year.
