Sweeny is now set to make his Grand Slam debut in the upcoming 2024 Australian Open. He has made it to the main draw of the tournament with a victory over No. 22 seed Zizou Bergs on 12 January 2024. Locked at a set apiece, he led 2-0 in the deciding set before his Belgian opponent retired with injury.

In October 2023, he qualified for the first-ever Masters 1000 in Shanghai. There, he recorded his first main-draw win against Japanese Taro Daniel, which was his first top-100 win also.

As of now, he has won seven singles and five doubles titles at the ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour. He won his first ITF titles in singles and doubles in the M25 Canberra 2022 Tennis Tournament.

Dane had a remarkable junior year, reaching his career-best ITF Junior Ranking no. 21 on 27 May 2019. Additionally, he represented Australia at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostějov, Czech Republic in August 2015.

Sweeny was born to Australian parents on 12 February 2001 in Sydney, New South Wales. He was just three years old when he moved with his family to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
