Ella Jansen is a Canadian competitive swimmer specializing in freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley events. She has been selected to join the Canadian National Olympic Swim Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Jansen has competed at two editions of the World Aquatics Championships, in 2023 and 2024. She helped Canada win bronze in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay in the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.
Likewise, she won five medals at the World Junior Swimming Championships in 2023. It includes an individual silver medal in the 400 m individual medley, a bronze with the 4×200 m freestyle relay team, and three additional relay medals.

In October 2022, she competed in her first World Aquatics Swimming World Cup event. Additionally, she was named Swimming Canada’s 2022 Breakout Swimmer of the Year.
After winning bronze medals in the 400m IM, 400m freestyle, and 200m butterfly at the Canadian Swimming Trials, she was selected to compete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. There, she won two relay medals and finished fifth in the 400m IM. She won bronze in the 4x100m freestyle relay at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in 2022.

Ella Jansen Parents: Meet The Olympian’s Father & Mother
Ella Jansen is the daughter of Mark Jansen and Sharon Jansen. Her parents raised her in Burlington, a city in the regional municipality of Halton, southeastern Ontario, Canada.
The athlete’s father Mark is Dutch and hails from Nijmegen, Netherlands. There, he obtained a business degree from the University of Groningen in 1988. He now serves as a general manager at a textile company in Burlington.
Likewise, her mother Sharon is Australian born and raised in the Netherlands. She obtained a diploma analytical professional.

The only daughter of three, she shares a sibling bond with her brothers Olaf Jansen and Ruben Jansen. Olaf is also a swimmer and swims collegiately at the University of Guelph.

Born Ella Christina Jansen on the 1st of September, 2005, she is 18 years old now. She hails from Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
The swimmer stands at a height of 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 meters). She began swimming for the Burlington Aquatic Devilrays (BAD) at the age of six.
Later, she started training at the Etobicoke Swimming Club under Kevin Thorburn in 2019. She now trains at Centre de Haute Performance in Ontario.
