Jordan Anthony Poole was born on June 19, 1999, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. He is the son of Anthony Poole and Monet Poole. He has an elder brother and a sister named Alex Poole.
Earlier, Poole attended Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later transferred to La Lumiere School in Indiana. He then went to the University of Michigan to play college basketball.

Poole was drafted by the Golden State Warriors 28th overall in the first round of the 2019 NBA draft. He made his NBA debut with the warriors on October 29, 2019, coming off from the bench. In a 122–141 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, he had five points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal. He scored a career-high 21 points in a win against the Orlando Magic on January 18, 2020.
