Josh Baker was an English cricket player. He played first-class cricket for Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
Sadly, Baker passed away on 2 May 2024 at the young age of 20. He was found dead in his apartment by a friend after he didn’t start up for his team’s match against Somerset.
Baker was set to play on the third day of Worcestershire’s match against Somerset in the County Championship. As he didn’t pick up his call, his friend visited his apartment only to find Josh dead.

Following the unfortunate incident, Worcestershire County Cricket Club released a statement saying,
Worcestershire County Cricket Club is heartbroken to announce the untimely passing of Josh Baker, who was aged only 20 years old.
During this profoundly difficult time, the club is dedicated to supporting Josh’s family, friends, and colleagues. We are united in our grief and committed to honouring his memory in a manner befitting the remarkable person he was.
Meanwhile, Worcestershire declined to comment on the nature of Baker’s death in the statement. Furthermore, they asked for the respect of privacy on behalf of his family.
Josh was diagnosed as diabetic from a very young age. His actual cause of death is being explored as of now.

As a youngster, Josh honed his cricketing skills at Kenilworth Wardens Sports Club. Later on, he joined Malvern College where he also played hockey.
