Kouri Richins is a mother and author from Utah. She came to the limelight for writing a children’s book on grief following her husband Eric Richins‘ death.

Eric, a Utah-based businessman, died at their home outside the ski town of Park City on 4 March 2022. After a year of her husband’s death, she published a book about coping with grief titled Are You With Me?


However, it later came to light that she was convicted of the murder of her husband. On March 16 2026, she was found guilty of murdering her husband by poisoning him with a fentanyl-laced drink.

The jury determined that she killed her husband for financial gain after deliberating for roughly three hours in the Utah courtroom. She was also found guilty of fraudulently claiming insurance benefits after her husband’s death.


During the trial, prosecutors argued that she falsely believed she would inherit his estate worth more than $4m (£3m) after he died. Moreover, she was planning a future with another man with whom she had been having an affair.

Kouri was arrested in May 2023, more than a year after her husband’s death. She was charged with aggravated murder and three counts of possession of drugs with intent to distribute.

Kouri’s boyfriend during her murder trial was Robert “Josh” Grossman. The mother of three had a years-long affair with Robert before her husband Eric’s death in 2022.
