CREW is a nonprofit 501 U.S. government ethics and accountability watchdog organization. Founded in 2003, it works to expose ethics violations and corruption by government officials and institutions and to reduce the role of money in politics.
Bookbinder began taking the role of the President in March 2015. Prior to that, he served as the Director of the Office of Legislative and Public Affairs at the United States Sentencing Commission. Serving from 2013 to 2015, he coordinated legislative and public affairs for the commission.

There, he investigated and prosecuted a wide variety of federal public corruption cases, ranging from bribery and contracting fraud to international immigration fraud schemes.
