Roger Craig Wiki: Get To Know The Personal Life Of Jeopardy Champ

Roger Craig is known for his multiple appearances on the popular trivia show, Jeopardy! He first appeared on the 27th season of the show back in 2010.

Furthermore, he not only became a winner but also set a new one-day record of $77,000. It was later surpassed by James Holzhauer in 2019 by winning $131,127. 

Craig continued his winning streak for six days and grabbed total winnings of $231,200. Later, he returned to the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions in 2011. There, he become the champion winning the hefty cash prize of $250,000.


In 2014, he competed in the Jeopardy! Battle of the Decades tournament as part of the 2000s Week. There, he finished third overall behind Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings.


Again in 2019, he was featured in the All-Star Games with team captain Austin Rogers and 2013 Teen Tournament winner Leonard Cooper. Eventually, his team went home with $75,000 after losing in the wild card match.

Roger Craig Is On Jeopardy Again!

Craig is appearing on Jeopardy again this season. He will be competing in the 2025 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament.

Likewise, he is set to appear in the quarterfinal game of the tournament on 21 February 2025. There, he will be challenging the former Jeopardy champs Maya Wright, a graduate student from Atlanta, Georgia, and John Focht, a baseball software team lead from El Paso, Texas.

Maya first competed in the “Teen Tournament” in 2018 and placed third. Moreover, she reached the final rounds of the “Jeopardy! High School Reunion” tournament in February 2023.


On the other hand, John competed on Jeopardy in the 37th season and won four games in a row in 2021. He also competed in the 2022 Tournament of Champions.

Roger has reached the age of 48 years old now. He was born Roger Alan Craig Jr. in the year 1977.

A native of  Ferndale, Pennsylvania, he grew up with his family there.  Later, he went to Virginia with his family and attended Annandale High School.

After graduating in 1995, he went to Virginia Tech from where he holds a first degree in biology and biochemistry. He earned both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Delaware. 

Roger Is A Computer Scientist By Profession

Roger is a computer scientist and the founder of Cotinga, a company that performs data analyses and creates learning applications for smartphones.

A scholarly personality, he published eight papers in the field of bioinformatics, specifically on topics of combinatorial protein synthesis and protein-protein prediction. 


Craig is now a Professor in the Computer Science department at the University of Delaware.

Roger is a married man. His wife is none other than Julia Collins, who is also a Jeopardy champion.

On the February 21 episode of Jeopardy, he told host Ken Jennings that he’s gotten married to one of the show’s all-time greats!
