Sil Lai Abrams is an American activist and award-winning writer. She advocates sexual assault, domestic violence, race, and depictions of women of color.

Abrams has provided television commentary on gender violence and any forms of discrimination related to women in terms of color.

Moreover, she has been featured in several magazines such as The Hollywood Reporter, EBONY, Redbook, Modern Woman, and ESSENCE.


In 2007, she published her first book, No More Drama: Nine Simple Steps to Transforming a Breakdown Into a Breakthrough Sil Lai Abrams.

Likewise, her second book Black Lotus: A Woman’s Search for Racial Identity, was published in 2016.

Sil Lai Abrams Is A Sexual Assault Survivor

In her 2007 book, ‘No More Drama,’ Sil talked about her own story of two alleged sexual assaults; in 1994 and 2006. However, she did not reveal the names of the culprits.

Meanwhile, on June 28, 2018, The Hollywood Reporter covered her story. It unfolded that the man who raped her in 1994 was an American record executive Russell Simmons.

Likewise, the man who assaulted her in 2006 was ‘Extra’  host A.J. Calloway.

Both Simmons and Calloway denied the allegations.

Does Sil Lai Abrams Have A Husband?

Sil Lai Abrams does not have a husband yet.

Nevertheless, she is a mother of an adult son named Christian

Abrams was in a relationship with a guy named Scott in the past. Their relationship did not work well because of regular arguments and fights.


She has faced several domestic violence from her then-partner Scott, for over five years. Scott is the father of her 26-year-old daughter.

Sil Lai Abrams Wiki: Parents, Family & Ethnicity

Abrams, age 50, was born on July 13, 1970, in Maui, Hawaii, United States. According to her birth certificate, she is the daughter of a white father and a Han Chinese mother.

She was raised as a white child along with a younger sister and brother.

However, at the age of 14, she discovered that her biological father was Black and an Air America pilot. Her parents abandoned her because of her dark skin tone.

The activist belongs to mixed ethnicity, but she regards herself as a proud black woman.
