As per the news headlines, Stanley collapsed on Wednesday morning while walking his dog. He died of natural causes while being transported from his home to the local hospital in Lexington County.

Stanley’s sudden passing has shocked everyone who knew him from his earlier days. For instance, Stanley’s longtime friend and the current South Carolina State Representative, Russell Ott couldn’t believe the heartbreaking news.
Remembering his early friendship with the deceased attorney, Russell said,
We went to football camp together and our coach put us together as roommates. Anyone that he ever came in contact with, got a glimpse of that great smile and great laugh and he would just carry on a conversation with anyone and everyone and treat them like family.

Stanley attended Swansea High School in his hometown where he played high school football. In fact, he won the state championship with his team.
Eventually, Stanley graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government at the Citadel in 1998. At Citadel, Stanley played college football.
Starting 43 out of 44 games as a quarterback, he became the only player in the Citadel history to ever throw for 3,000-plus yards and to rush for 2,000-plus yards.

Stanley also served as a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He served a stint in Afghanistan with the S.C. National Guard.
