Vince died when the 2022 Ferrari 296 GTS he was driving veered off the road and struck a concrete barrier at high speed on 21 December 2025. The video game designer was exiting a tunnel on the Angeles Crest Highway in the San Gabriel Mountains, north of Los Angeles.
The car crash was reported at about 12:45 pm on Sunday. As soon as the Ferrari crashed into a concrete barrier, it caught fire.

Based on the report by the California Highway Patrol, Zampella died at the scene. He also had a passenger in the car who died at a hospital. The identity of the passenger remains unknown.
A witness offered a video of the crash involving a 2026 Ferrari 296 GTS to authorities. As per the video, the red car was slamming into the barrier just after exiting the tunnel.
